Prince William and Kate are clearly passing their love of nature to their kids.
Prince William and Kate surprised fans with a new pic of Princess Charlotte today, for a very important cause. The royal parents posted the sweet snap on social media, along with some beautiful close-ups of Peacock and Red Admiral butterflies, to advocate for butterfly conservation.
In the photo, Charlotte looks down at her hands as she cradles a Red Admiral butterfly. The princess wears a blue pocketed tee with lace edges with pink floral shorts and her blond hair falling loose around her shoulders.
“@savebutterflies are encouraging us all to count these incredible creatures because not only are they beautiful creatures to be around but they are also extremely important,” the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge explained in the caption. “Butterflies are vital parts of the ecosystem as both pollinators and components of the food chain.” They added that they hope the UK butterfly conservation organization can beat last year’s total, part of the Big #ButterflyCount initiative that’s happening across the country.
We’re used to seeing photos of the Cambridge kids on their birthdays, but it’s always a fun surprise when their mom and dad share unexpected shots like this. Charlotte is clearly growing up to be a nature lover like her parents. According to Hello!, Kate took the photo during a family outing to the Big Butterfly Count. She’s often behind the lens of photos of her daughter and sons Prince George, 8, and three-year-old Prince Louis.
Back in May, Charlotte starred in a new photo taken by her mom at their country home to mark her sixth birthday on May 2. She smiled widely in a floral button-up dress, also with her blond hair flowing freely. We love seeing the Cambridge kids in the great outdoors, where they always look so happy. Even though we often have to beg and bribe our kids to get them outside, they’re always happiest with some fresh air, too!
On Father’s Day, George and Charlotte helped their dad out as he kicked off the half-marathon at the first-ever Run Sandringham event. In a cute video, they joined Prince William on the mic to count down to the start of the race.
Looks like the Cambridge kids are having a fun summer in the country!
