The royal joined her parents at the Commonwealth Games and her funny expressions gave Prince Louis a run for his money.
Princess Charlotte marked a royal milestone today, making her first official appearance without her siblings, and her hilarious facial expressions definitely melted some hearts. Prince William and Kate’s middle kid joined them for a surprise trip to the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where she watched a swim meet and met athletes behind the scenes.
The 7-year-old looked adorable in a nautical-striped, collared dress and white sandals with braided pigtails—which happened to offer some entertainment during the meet, when Charlotte was photographed twirling her braids and wrapping them around her neck.
Much like her brother Prince Louis at the Platinum Jubilee, Charlotte’s expressions ran the gamut from goofy to bored as she sat in the stands. In typical kid fashion, she was snapped sticking out her tongue and also looking totally over it with her head in her hands.
Lottie, as she’s called, pointed some things out to her mom, and Kate also pointed to explain parts of the meet to her daughter. At one point, she also gave her dad a giant thumbs up. (Maybe when it was time to go? That’s a lot of sitting for a kid!)
Later, Charlotte joined William and Kate at a workshop with aspiring athletes and their support workers, where she was photographed shaking hands with other participants. We’d say she handled the whole outing like a champ, especially not having her brothers, 9-year-old Prince George and 4-year-old Prince Louis, by her side.
Charlotte made another appearance on Saturday in a video with her dad, wishing the English soccer team, the Lionesses, good luck in the Women’s Euro 2022. “Good luck, I hope you win. Bye!” she said in the message before smiling and showing off her two missing bottom teeth. According to her dad, Charlotte is really into soccer and a great player, so she must have been thrilled when the women’s soccer team won.
Good luck tonight @Lionesses, we’re all cheering for you! pic.twitter.com/ATsLg6QHIF
